Technical Specifications

Foundations

  • The significant advantage of Best-Hall buildings is the lower cost foundation requirement as the loading from the steel frame can be considerably less than conventional steel frame buildings.
  • >40 metre width: Asphalt base* (using our ground anchor system) or concrete beam
  • >100 metre width: Concrete base (typically a continous concrete beam or pads)

*Dependant on load bearing requirements of building and ground conditions.

Steel Frame

  • Steel lattice trusses and longitudinal secondary rafters.
  • Dimensioned for snow and wind loads in line with building regulations and for possible conveyor / crane loadings.
  • The steel frame is supplied shot blasted and then epoxy painted White or Grey; alternatively hot dip galvanised finish is available for specific applications.
  • Epoxy paint finish is standard in order to provide an extremely smooth finish for tensioning the entire membrane over and also to give an aesthethically pleasing appearance.
  • The paint colour is White or light grey as standard but virtually any colour is available
  • Under normal circumstances the the structure is designed to accept an additional loading of 20kg/m2 overall, with a point loading maximum of 150kg.
  • Additional loads can be accommodated, for example, buildings have been installed with 40T roof mounted conveyors.

Tension PVC Membrane

  • The cover weighs between 850g/m² and 1,500 g/m².
  • Tensile strength rating between 4,200/4,000/N/5cm and 10,000/8,000/N/5cm
  • Weight and strength are dimensioned according to the size/span of the building.
  • Range of standard colours available, other colours are availble on request (subject to qty).
  • Logos and Colour schemes are incorporated to achieve the aesthetic appearance required.

Fire Safety

  • The PVC fabric melts at approx. +300°C whilst the critical temperature of steel is +400-500°C.
  • In case of fire the PVC cover will disperse in the area exposed to the fire thereby releasing heat, smoke and dangerous gases.
  • The building can be then be brought back to operation by installing a new PVC cover within days.
  • Fire reports are available on request

Inner Liner

  • An inner liner can be installed to increase the insulation to 3.1 W/m2K it also hides the steel trusses on sites with aesthetic requirements.
  • The inner liner is also used on applications such as compost storage/waste storage, where odours and vapours need to be contained either to protect the structural steel work or keep vapour within the building.

Insulation

  • Insulation material can be installed in conjunction with the Inner liner system to achieve the desired U value for building regulations
